Privacy policy

This English version is a courtesy translation. The legally binding version is the German "Datenschutzerklärung" served under wissen-beratung.de. Data processing is governed by EU GDPR and German data-protection law regardless of the domain you visit.

2. Data collected when visiting the website

When this website is accessed, our hosting provider Metaliance ISP Systems e.K. (serverdiscounter.com), Friedrichstraße 155, 10117 Berlin, Germany, collects technical data automatically transmitted by the browser on a server located in Germany: IP address, date and time, transferred data volume, user agent, referrer. The website is operated on that server via Coolify / Docker. These data are used exclusively for technical provisioning and are deleted after a maximum of 14 days.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the stable operation of the website).

3. Contact form

When you reach out via the contact form we store name, email, optionally company and phone number, and your message. These data are stored in our CRM system (CRM 19, hosted in Germany) and used to handle your enquiry.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent) and Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures). Storage duration: until consent is revoked, otherwise 3 years after last contact.

On our Odoo comparison pages we additionally offer a detailed report (full comparison table and PDF) after you fill in a short form. We process your company name and business email (required) and, if provided, your current system, company size, industry and your concern (information / contact request / demo). On this basis we deliver the report and handle your enquiry. Two separate consents apply: a mandatory one to receive the report and be contacted about your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, pre-contractual measures) and an optional one to receive further information (newsletter; Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, consent, revocable at any time). Storage: like other enquiries, until revocation, otherwise 3 years after last contact.

4. Data processors

• Metaliance ISP Systems e.K. (serverdiscounter.com), Friedrichstraße 155, 10117 Berlin: server hosting in Germany / technical provisioning (operated via Coolify / Docker)
• CRM-System (eigener Server in Deutschland): Speicherung der Kontaktanfragen
• Optional: Slack / Mattermost webhook, internal notification only, no personal content
• Umami Analytics (self-hosted on our own server in Germany, analytics.wb-crm.net): cookie-free reach measurement, see section 6
• Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation, USA): heatmaps and session replays, only with your active consent, see section 7
• Metricool SL (Spain): tracking script for evaluating our social media campaigns, runs on every page view, see section 9
• Expert Systems AG, Quedlinburger Straße 1, 10589 Berlin (Germany): "ProvenExpert" review seal, embedded on every page, see section 10
• Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): "Turnstile" spam protection on the Odoo comparison form (checks whether a submission is human). Processes the IP address and technical browser signals; cookie-free. Data transfer to the USA is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or standard contractual clauses.

Data-processing agreements (DPA) pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR are in place with all processors.

5. Cookies

We use cookies sparingly. Strictly necessary entries (for example rate-limiting for forms and a localStorage entry that remembers your cookie-banner decision) are exempt from the consent requirement under § 25 (2) TTDSG, because they are required to provide functionality you actively requested.

Microsoft Clarity (see section 7), the only optional service that stores data on your device, is loaded only after your active consent via the cookie banner. You can revoke that consent at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. The Metricool tracking script (section 9) and the ProvenExpert review seal (section 10) are not covered by the banner: both are embedded statically and load on every page view. You can object to either at any time (section 12).

6. Reach measurement (Umami Analytics)

For anonymous reach measurement we use Umami Analytics, self-hosted on our own server in Germany (analytics.wb-crm.net). Umami does not set cookies and does not use cross-site identifiers. IP addresses are processed only in memory to generate an anonymous, salted hash; no IP addresses or personal identifiers are stored. Processed information: anonymized page views, referrer, device type, browser, coarse country/region based on the hashed IP.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in understanding the usage of our website to improve it). Since no information is stored on or read from your device, § 25 TTDSG does not apply and no consent is required. You may object at any time by sending an email to info@wissen-beratung.de.

7. Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps & session replays, only with consent)

With your consent we use Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052, USA) for heatmaps and anonymised session replays. The goal is to understand where visitors get stuck on our pages so we can improve them. Clarity sets first-party cookies (e.g. _clck, _clsk) and records aggregated usage information: mouse movements, scroll depth, clicked elements, screen size, browser, coarse location, and pseudonymised session identifiers. Form input fields are masked by default.

Do Not Track: if your browser sends the "DNT" signal, we do not load Clarity even with consent. The analytics option is then not offered in the cookie banner at all, and no consent for it is stored.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent) and § 25 (1) TTDSG (consent for storing information on terminal equipment). Without your active consent via the cookie banner, no Clarity script is loaded and no Clarity cookies are set.

Third-country transfer: Clarity data is processed by Microsoft Corporation in the USA. Microsoft is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF); we additionally rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses pursuant to Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR.

Storage duration: Clarity cookies have a maximum lifetime of 1 year (renewed on each visit). Session replays are retained by Microsoft for a maximum of 1 year and are then deleted automatically.

Withdrawal: open the "Cookie settings" link in the footer and choose "Decline", or delete the Clarity cookies in your browser. The withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before. More information on Microsoft Clarity privacy: learn.microsoft.com/clarity.

8. Contacting us via WhatsApp

On our home page there is a button that opens a chat with us on WhatsApp. The button is a plain link to wa.me: as long as you do not click it, nothing is loaded from WhatsApp, nothing is transferred and nothing is stored on your device. It therefore needs no consent and is not part of the cookie banner.

If you click it, WhatsApp opens on your device with a prepared message to our number, which you can edit or discard before sending. From that point on WhatsApp Ireland Limited (Dublin, Ireland), part of the Meta group, processes the communication under its own terms; we have no influence on that. This involves at least your mobile number, your WhatsApp profile details, the content of your messages and metadata such as time and device. Meta may transfer data to the USA.

On our side we process the content of your message to handle your enquiry. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures and handling your enquiry). Storage: like other enquiries, until revocation, otherwise 3 years after last contact. WhatsApp Ireland Limited is not our processor for this; it acts as a controller in its own right, which is why it is not listed in section 4.

9. Metricool tracking

On every page of this website we embed the tracking script of Metricool SL (Spain). It loads the file be.js from tracker.metricool.com and reports the page view back there. We use it to see which of our social media posts and campaigns lead to visits here, so we can evaluate our own content. The script is embedded statically in the page and therefore runs on every page view, without asking you beforehand.

Processed information: your IP address, the referring URL, the page called up, date and time as well as technical browser data (user agent). Metricool processes the data on servers within the EU; no transfer to a third country takes place on our instruction.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in measuring the reach of our own social media work. The processing by Metricool SL as our processor is governed by a data-processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

Objection: you can object to this processing at any time by sending an email to info@wissen-beratung.de (Art. 21 GDPR, see section 12). Browser-side you can block requests to tracker.metricool.com, for example with a content blocker, or disable JavaScript; the website works without restriction in that case.

10. ProvenExpert review seal

On every page of this website (except our landing pages) we embed the review seal of the review portal ProvenExpert, operated by Expert Systems AG, Quedlinburger Straße 1, 10589 Berlin, Germany. Your browser loads the seal image from images.provenexpert.com and a script from www.provenexpert.com that displays our current customer ratings next to the seal. The seal is embedded statically and is therefore loaded on every page view, without asking you beforehand.

Because the seal is loaded directly from ProvenExpert, the following is transmitted there: your IP address, the page called up, the referring URL, date and time and technical browser data (user agent). We do not receive any of this data; we only see the aggregated rating figures in our own ProvenExpert account.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in showing prospective clients the independently collected ratings of our work. Expert Systems AG operates ProvenExpert from Germany; no transfer to a third country takes place on our instruction.

Objection: you can object to this processing at any time by sending an email to info@wissen-beratung.de (Art. 21 GDPR, see section 12). Browser-side you can block requests to provenexpert.com, for example with a content blocker, or disable JavaScript; the website works without restriction in that case, only the seal is then missing. On screens narrower than 992 pixels — most smartphones — the seal is not displayed at all.

11. Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). You may also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

To exercise your rights, an informal email to info@wissen-beratung.de is sufficient.

13. Withdrawal of consent (Art. 7 (3) GDPR)

Where we process data on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR) — in particular for the contact form (section 3) and Microsoft Clarity (section 7) — you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future. The withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of the consent before its withdrawal. For consent given via the cookie banner, use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer; for any other consent an informal email to info@wissen-beratung.de is sufficient.

14. Fonts

The fonts Inter and Montserrat are served locally from our server. No connection is established to Google Fonts CDN or similar third-party providers.

15. Right to complain

Without prejudice to any other legal remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. Competent authority is: Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, lfd.niedersachsen.de.
